I play Murder Mystery just by using Nametags and Chams, and I have no problems.
Plus, wouldn’t it be suspicious if the murderer hasn’t killed anyone and you kill them?
Pretty good suggestion, but you can just use Nametags/Chams to find out who’s the murderer yourself

The best way to implement this is for it to be checking the held item of a player, and the moment they take out a sword etc it sends you a message in chat alerting you who the murderer is
