By default, ExpressVPN does not work with Vape. This will tell you how to fix ExpressVPN while using Vape.
First things first, you want to follow the usual tutorial that Manthe made here. Then, go to ExpressVPN -> Settings, then find this setting:
You want to disable the "Network Lock" from this menu. This is because ExpressVPN blocks non-VPN connections by default. (the route method wont work while its enabled)
That is pretty much it, then you can save your settings and have fun using Vape!
