Traps are not gay

Nah, if anything, people that like traps tend to realize that sexuality is more than penis or vagina. It's similar to futa lovers. Maybe you like traps because they are men, but do you like non-trap males? I think people tend to look at things a bit backwards. Do you like men because of the penis or the other way around? If you aren't attracted to non-trap men, can you really claim to be gay or bisexual. If the only men you are attracted to are the ones that look specifically not like men, isn't that the same as basically not being gay? How do you square your sexual identity with the reality that not everybody fits neatly into a box. For instance intersex people usually don't fit well into the idea that you are what your genitals are. Transgender people also make that harder to square since many haven't gone through surgery yet or may not be able to.

Another thing that makes it harder is that even if you go by gender identity, we're largely talking about fictional characters sometimes completely original characters that have no background to guess. Does the character you fap to identify as male or female. Even in the real world, not all traps identify as male. And some identify as female when they are crossdressing. BTW this particular image is an edit. The original is of a female and it's not animated. If you like this image, is it truly because you see the character as a man, despite the original version being of a female. And you realize how often even traps are drawn this way, by essentially drawing a female and then giving them a penis. Granted, not all are done this way, but even the more masculine traps still tend to look very feminine, and this is helped by the fact that men in anime often look more feminine anyway even if they aren't bishounen characters. It's why most trap fans tend to see traps as women. With nothing else to go by, most default to gender expression, so the character that looks, sounds, and dresses like a woman is seen as most likely somebody wanting to be seen as a woman.

Lastly, scientifically, certain things are practically guaranteed to arouse you. No matter your sex, gender, or sexuality, generally it's been found that the penis will arouse you. Similarly, breasts do as well. In a way, it could be argued everybody is bisexual, but it also kind of renders the word useless. Studies have shown that seeing these things can arouse you. Human sexuality is a lot more complex than people like to give it credit for. The irony is that people that should know this because the way they were treated end up turning this back on others. Your sexuality is your own, no stranger can know you more than you know yourself. If you think you're gay because you like traps, more power to you. But not everybody shares this opinion and it's not just denial. There's often a different thought process going on such as considering the characters a different gender, even if only subconsciously. There's also psychological elements that could be taken into consideration. And lastly, it could just be something they fancy in the fantasy of 2D. Not everybody carries their fetishes into the third dimension.

So fapping to the former is gay because they look like a man. While fapping to the latter is gay because they have a penis. Because the idea wasn't that only one of the two was known to be a trap or trans, the person asked is assumed to know what genitals the two people had. And by that token, the gay person in the question also is assumed to know.

But wait, by that logic, isn't fapping to the former straight because they have a vagina? And isn't fapping to the latter also straight because they look like a woman?

You've answered like most people I've asked that too. On one hand you base sexuality on the knowledge of what a person looks like. But on the other hand, you base sexuality on knowing what a person has between their legs. But sexuality actually doesn't work that way.

You can't just turn off sexual attraction, outside of a reaction of a specific type of fear. Keep in mind that this is specifically about sexual attraction, not dating. The parts of the body that become aroused, usually stay aroused. And a lot of it has to do with how we are normally.

When you watch porn, is it always just lesbian porn? When you look at your own penis, you don't become repulsed do you? Look at how popular futanari is, and how similar things are happening here. When people began looking into why that is, the science began to point to it certain features being universally seen as arousing.

When it comes to futas, newhalfs, and even traps (at least in the moments they pass), it still subconsciously sees that person as a woman despite the penis. This can conflict with one's own beliefs on what sex and gender is. Do you consider a futanari to be a woman.

Since futanari aren't really found normally irl, though intersex people with different conditions do exist, it's more of a hypothetical, that if you met a woman who had both genitals, would you consider them a woman or a man. Most would indeed consider them woman, and a few would consider them both or somewhere inbetween man and woman.

Then there are newhalfs which many sites use to describe pre-op trans women. Most of these sites count traps as men, but newhalfs as women.

When it comes to real life porn, porn with trans women tends to be put outside of gay sections, because gay people don't generally view it, while self-described straight people do.

Quite a bit actually. Maybe they're all just closeted gay or bisexual people. If you consider anything between a 0 and a 6 on the kinsey scale to be bisexual, perhaps. That would mean however that few people are truly gay or straight.

Personally I don't because it would render the word absolutely useless. I don't necessarily think a person has to be a 3, but if the only men you fapped to are men that looked like women and are considered women by most people, then I would generally not consider that to be gay or even bisexual, unless you had a specific and exclusive attraction to them. To me, that's just gynephilia. When traps are brought into the mix, yes they are men, but in the moment they are passing, they are typically seen as women.

Most people tend to use feminine pronouns around them because to most it sounds odd that somebody would want to be seen as a woman and yet not be seen as a woman.

Remember that I specifically said that this wasn't about dating. Obviously, if you dated such a person exclusively you might be gay or bisexual, since you wouldn't just be dealing with a person who is always passing, chances are there would also be times where they don't pass.

Furthermore, if they indeed aren't trans, they probably wouldn't act much different from men when they weren't acting as a trap. Lastly, since they would still see themselves as men, it would be gay or bisexual depending on your dating habits.

If they are trans and merely using the trap label to be in the closet about their gender identity and you found that out before dating them, then I wouldn't consider it gay. Lastly, it's called Sexual preference for a reason. there tends to be a pattern, and because a lot of people tend to be more curious anyway about the limits to their sexual preferences, a one off event probably wouldn't put you much further towards the middle of the kinsey scale, let alone towards the gay side.

If you dated a trap and realized you couldn't deal with them when they weren't passing, I'd say it's probably not for you. A lot of people have fetishes only in concept, that is, they may fantasize about certain things, but wouldn't want it in real life.

People often set such strict roles and act as if they are tainted. While some may "accept" that they are gay or bisexual, it always seems to come across as self-loathing.

People pressure you to fit into some label and it happens more than you think. People gay or straight tend to pressure you to pick a side. Back when I considered myself bisexual, that was often the case. But on the other hand, I never fit in any better with bisexual people, who tended to pressure me to fit towards the middle.

And more and more I began to feel that those labels just did not really fit at all because no matter what there would be something that contradicted it. That's why I consider myself gynephilic if I have to have a label.
