scripting api so that the community can create their own scripts for vape v4

that would also reduce all the suggestions

maybe make new scripts as "unverified"(locked from usage) until it's reviewed by developers and allowed to be used

It would depend on what the scripting API allows you to do but there could be malware in them or smt so they would need to verify them either way

I think they don't want to do this as it can increase the attacking surface. Esp if scripts can modify classloaders, or the scripting engine runs with full JVM permissions [which sometimes happens esp in open source clients]. You don't want to make your client easier to crack do you :/.
But besides that the real costs are working on API stability, backwards compatibility and ensuring performance overhead.

Had to edit this as people were getting the idea that api instantly makes something 10x easier to crack [it doesn't]

I think he's just scared because it'll make cracking vape wayy easier [every single cient with scripting has been cracked as from my basic understanding] you interact with the client, and the backend, so yeah.. Ideally, you don't want your client to get cracked :/

it has real cracks, but since the developers of vape client are actually pretty good im sure they could make it work somehow while also ensuring the security of not only the client but also the users

people that dont like the client or what the owners of it do, not specifically talking about vape here tho but theres been some real cracks

If you spend enough time learning how a program’s security works and how to reverse engineer it, you can crack most things.
